Maths and your child: Helping your child with mathematics at home

Maths and your child: Helping your child with mathematics at home

This 16-page booklet provides an excellent and important reminder to parents that maths is not merely a focus on numbers and counting but is fundamental to everyday activities. This concise booklet suggests various games and situations, broken down into three age-groups – The Early Years: ages 3-5, The Middle Years: ages 6-8 and The Later Years: ages 9-11, to provoke thought and imagination in both parent and child. Including exploring shapes, estimating quantities, calculating time and handling money, the ultimate aim is to assist your child not only to understand maths but hopefully to enjoy the subject too. However, not all children find ‘numbers’ straightforward and I do wonder if the booklet’s expectations are too high?
